Under the amendments to the Bankruptcy and
Insolvency Act, which are expected to take effect in December 2008, a
consumer debtor can now be considered for filing a consumer proposal if
the individual's aggregate debts, excluding debts secured by the
individual's principal residence, are not more that $250,000. This is an
increase from $75,000. |
